Our Squirrel Girl list is mono-green Squirrel tokens. She makes a Squirrel when she enters or attacks, and for four mana she makes a Squirrel for every Squirrel you control.

The deck builds a Squirrel base with Deep Forest Hermit and Chatterstorm, doubles it with Doubling Season and Parallel Lives, turns tokens into mana with Cryptolith Rite and Jaheira, and wins with Craterhoof Behemoth or a pumped swarm.

01The Commander

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is a four-mana 4/4. Whenever she enters or attacks, you create a 1/1 green Squirrel.

For {1}{G}{G}{G}, you create X 1/1 Squirrels, where X is the number of Squirrels you control. She is a Squirrel herself, so every activation at least doubles your Squirrel count.

The activation has no tap cost, so you can use it as many times as you have mana, and token doublers like Doubling Season double each batch.

02How This Deck Wins

    Llanowar Elves, Birds of Paradise, Nature's Lore and Sol Ring get Squirrel Girl out on turn three.

    Double the Squirrels

    Add Squirrels with Deep Forest Hermit or Squirrel Nest, then activate Squirrel Girl to double them, more than once if you have the mana.

    Turn tokens into a win

    Cryptolith Rite and Jaheira, Friend of the Forest turn the swarm into mana, and Craterhoof Behemoth or Preposterous Proportions turns it into lethal damage.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl + Cryptolith Rite

With Concordant Crossroads out, new Squirrels have haste and tap for mana right away. Once you control four or more Squirrels, each activation makes at least as much mana as it costs and the count keeps doubling, so you can make as many Squirrels as you like.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl + Doubling Season

Each activation makes twice as many Squirrels. Add Parallel Lives and it makes four times as many.

Craterhoof Behemoth + The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

Double the swarm a few times, then Hoof gives every creature trample and +X/+X for a lethal haste swing.

Skullclamp + The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

Clamp a 1/1 Squirrel and it dies right away, drawing two cards for one mana each time.

10How to Play

Opening hand

Keep hands with three lands and a mana creature or ramp spell. Squirrel Girl on turn three or four is ideal.

Early gameturns 1-3

Play Llanowar Elves, Birds of Paradise or Elvish Mystic, and set up Squirrel Nest or Chitterspitter.

Mid gameturns 4-7

Cast Squirrel Girl and attack for a free Squirrel, then add a doubler or token mana enabler like Cryptolith Rite or Jaheira, Friend of the Forest.

Late gameturn 8+

Activate Squirrel Girl a few times, then finish with Craterhoof Behemoth, Preposterous Proportions or Beastmaster Ascension.

Tips

  • Squirrel Girl counts herself, so she always makes at least one Squirrel.
  • Changeling Shapeshifters from Springleaf Parade are Squirrels too.
  • Primal Vigor doubles opponents' tokens as well, so watch what they make.
  • Tippy-Toe adds a Food each time you make tokens, which feeds forage on Curious Forager and Thornvault Forager.

Common mistakes

  • Activating Squirrel Girl before playing your other Squirrel makers that turn.
  • Overextending into a wipe without Heroic Intervention.
  • Forgetting new tokens can't tap for mana the turn they arrive without Concordant Crossroads.
  • Attacking with Squirrel Girl into deathtouch blockers.

Watch out for

  • Board wipes, especially -1/-1 effects.
  • Removal on Squirrel Girl.
  • Effects that stop tokens.
  • Fliers your Squirrels can't block.
