Bracket 4 · Our Hashaton decklist · Reanimator
Our Hashaton list is Esper discard and reanimation. Whenever you discard a creature card, Hashaton lets you pay {2}{U} to create a 4/4 Zombie token copy of it, so big creatures like Archon of Cruelty and Elesh Norn hit the battlefield straight from your hand.
The deck loots constantly with Kitsa, Vohar and Likeness Looter, gets value from discarding with Monument to Endurance and Archfiend of Ifnir, and reanimates the real creatures with Reanimate, Animate Dead and The Scarab God.

01The Commander
Hashaton, Scarab's Fist is a two-mana 1/3. Whenever you discard a creature card, you may pay {2}{U} to create a tapped token copy of that card, except it's a 4/4 black Zombie.
The copy keeps all the creature's abilities. Discard Archon of Cruelty and you get a 4/4 Zombie Archon with its enter trigger. Discard Consecrated Sphinx and you have a 4/4 Sphinx drawing two cards per opponent draw.
The real card is still in your graveyard after the copy is made, so Reanimate, Animate Dead or Victimize can bring it back too. Hashaton gives you two of each big threat.
02How This Deck Wins
- 1
Loot every turn
Kitsa, Otterball Elite, Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator, Likeness Looter and Frantic Search put creature cards from hand into the graveyard.
- 2
Copy what you discard
Each creature you discard with Hashaton out becomes a 4/4 Zombie copy for three mana. Rhet-Tomb Mystic gives creatures cycling so every one can be discarded.
- 3
Reanimate the originals
Reanimate, Animate Dead, Victimize and The Scarab God bring back the real Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Avacyn, Angel of Hope or Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur.

10How to Play
Opening hand
Keep hands with two or three lands, a looter, and ideally a big creature to discard. Hashaton only costs two, so it comes down early.
Early gameturns 1-3
Cast Hashaton on turn two, then a looter like Kitsa, Otterball Elite or Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator.
Mid gameturns 4-7
Loot creature cards away and pay {2}{U} for Zombie copies. Reanimate the originals with Reanimate or Animate Dead.
Late gameturn 8+
Win with copies of Archon of Cruelty, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or Massacre Wurm, protected by Fierce Guardianship.
Tips
- Keep {2}{U} open when you loot so you can pay for Hashaton's copy.
- The copy enters tapped but keeps enter-the-battlefield triggers.
- Bitter Triumph's discard can be a creature, which triggers Hashaton.
- Windfall makes every player discard. Your creature cards trigger Hashaton.
Common mistakes
- Looting without mana up to pay for the copy.
- Discarding your only big creature when you can't copy or reanimate it.
- Forgetting Hashaton's tokens are 4/4, not the original size.
- Ignoring graveyard hate at the table.
Watch out for
- Graveyard hate like Rest in Peace.
- Removal on Hashaton.
- Counters on your reanimation spells.
- Hand-size effects that disrupt looting.
11Bracket and Rule 0
Our list runs 7 Game Changers (Consecrated Sphinx, Cyclonic Rift, Demonic Tutor, Fierce Guardianship, Rhystic Study, Smothering Tithe, Vampiric Tutor). That is more than the Bracket 3 limit of three, so we call it Bracket 4 at the table.
Reanimating Archon of Cruelty or Jin-Gitaxias early is powerful, so talk with your table about the deck's speed.
