Bracket 4 · Our Caesar, Legion's Emperor decklist · Mardu Tokens
Our Caesar list is Mardu tokens. Every time you attack, Caesar lets you sacrifice a creature for two of three bonuses: more hasty attackers, a card, or damage equal to your creature token count.
The deck goes wide with Adeline, Hero of Bladehold and Assemble the Legion, multiplies tokens with Ojer Taq, Anointed Procession and Mondrak, and drains the table with Impact Tremors, Zulaport Cutthroat and Teysa Karlov.

01The Commander
Caesar, Legion's Emperor is a four-mana 4/4. Whenever you attack, you may sacrifice another creature. When you do, choose two: create two 1/1 hasty Soldiers tapped and attacking, draw a card and lose 1 life, or deal damage to target opponent equal to the number of creature tokens you control.
Caesar triggers when you attack with any creatures, not just him, so he can stay home and still work. Sacrifice a spare token, a creature with a death trigger like Infestation Sage, or one wearing Skullclamp.
The modes happen in printed order. Choose Soldiers and damage, and the new Soldiers are counted before Caesar deals the damage.
02How This Deck Wins
- 1
Go wide early
Ocelot Pride, Loyal Apprentice, Bitterblossom and Charismatic Conqueror give Caesar fodder and attackers.
- 2
Attack every turn
Caesar, Adeline, Resplendent Cathar, Hero of Bladehold and Myrel, Shield of Argive all make more bodies when you attack.
- 3
Multiply and drain
Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation, Anointed Procession and Mondrak, Glory Dominus multiply tokens, while Impact Tremors and Zulaport Cutthroat turn them into damage.

09Combos and Key Interactions
Caesar, Legion's Emperor + Isshin, Two Heavens as One
Caesar's attack trigger happens twice. Sacrifice two creatures and get two sets of two modes each combat.
Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation + Anointed Procession
Creature tokens are tripled and then doubled, so Caesar's two Soldiers become twelve and the damage mode counts all of them.
Teysa Karlov + Zulaport Cutthroat
Each creature you sacrifice to Caesar drains each opponent for 2 instead of 1.
10How to Play
Opening hand
Keep hands with three lands and a cheap token maker or mana rock. Caesar on turn three or four with something to sacrifice is ideal.
Early gameturns 1-3
Play Ocelot Pride, Loyal Apprentice, Bitterblossom or Esper Sentinel, and a rock like Talisman of Hierarchy.
Mid gameturns 4-7
Cast Caesar and attack every turn. Add a multiplier like Anointed Procession or a drain like Impact Tremors.
Late gameturn 8+
Stack multipliers and attack with everything. Caesar's damage mode, Purphoros, God of the Forge and Akroma's Will end the game.
Tips
- Caesar triggers whenever you attack, even if he stays back.
- Sacrificing a token with Mirkwood Bats out drains for creating and for sacrificing.
- Akroma's Will, Deflecting Swat, Flawless Maneuver and Deadly Rollick all get better or free while you control Caesar.
- Loyal Apprentice only makes Thopters while you control your commander.
Common mistakes
- Sacrificing a token to Caesar when a nontoken creature would do and the damage mode needs every token.
- Casting Hour of Reckoning or a big Martial Coup without noticing they kill Caesar too.
- Paying too much life to The One Ring, Bitterblossom and Black Market Connections at once.
- Overextending into a wipe without Teferi's Protection or Flawless Maneuver.
Watch out for
- Board wipes.
- Removal on Caesar.
- Effects that stop tokens.
- Fliers and big blockers that stall small Soldiers.
11Bracket and Rule 0
Our list runs 5 Game Changers (Ancient Tomb, Demonic Tutor, Smothering Tithe, Teferi's Protection, The One Ring). That is more than the Bracket 3 limit of three, so we call it Bracket 4 at the table.
This list runs five Game Changers (Ancient Tomb, Demonic Tutor, Smothering Tithe, Teferi's Protection and The One Ring), so it pushes toward Bracket 4. Talk to your table before the game.
There are no two-card infinite combos, but stacked token multipliers with Caesar and Isshin can deal lethal in one attack, and Grand Abolisher or Myrel stop opponents from answering on your turn.
